Description

Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) was established to ensure all Black communities can thrive and have agency in defining their futures. Founded in 2020, FFBC is Canada’s first philanthropic foundation dedicated to ensuring that Black-led, Black-mandated, and Black-serving (B3) organizations have sustainable funding.  

FFBC’s Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0, 2025, is an investment of $8 million to acknowledge and support solution-oriented initiatives led by Canada's Black communities. Today, we are thrilled that you are applying for FFBC’s Black Ideas Grant B.I.G. 3.0, 2025! We strongly recommend that before starting your application you read the Application Guideline, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Additional guiding resources & videos are available here.

We have provided the grant application questions to help you prepare for your application before your final submission in the application portal. Please note that questions are different for each grant stream.  

Application owner (account) to be part of your internal staff i.e. Founder, CEO, ED, Director, Coordinator, Manager, etc.) from organization applying not external consultant. Make sure to have your account handled internally. 

Each applicant is permitted to apply for only one stream. If multiple applications are submitted, only the first completed submission will be considered valid, and all subsequent applications will be automatically disqualified.  

General guidance on the use of AI: The applicant is accountable for the contents of their applications. Be aware that applications completed with the assistance of AI tools are generally identifiable. Such submissions are typically set aside and excluded from the selection process. 

Previous unsuccessful B.I.G. 2.0: For applicants who were unsuccessful in B.I.G. 2.0, you will have the opportunity to reuse the data previously entered in your application. Should you choose to do so, please note that certain newly added questions will have blank answers. We therefore strongly advise you to carefully review your whole application, update any outdated attachments, and revise previous content as necessary before submitting. 

We are offering a limited number of spots for applicants who require support to submit their application orally. If you need this accommodation, please review the oral application process (Disclaimer tab) and book a session. Oral applications will take place between October 13 and October 31, 2025. 

Please note that spaces are limited, so availability is not guaranteed. However, we will do our best to ensure applicants who require this option receive the support they need. 

Applications for B.I.G. 3.0, 2025 open on October 1, 2025, and the deadline for submission is November 5th, 2025, at 12:00 PM PT.
